Magazine Production
Spring 2024
"Mortem Post" was a collaborative magazine between a group of five people. Our magazine was based on horror culture. Each person was given a job that they would be tasked with helping each other member of the group with. I was designated the role of being the magazines photographer. Along with preforming our designated roles, we were to put together three articles and five advertisements that would make up the entirety of the magazine.

Logo Design
The logo for this project was decided through a vote process where every member of the team produced a version of the logo. The logo chosen was a collaboration between my version of the word "Mortem" being done in spray paint to give it a running and dripping effect that simulated the dripping of blood. The word "Post" was done by a group member with a stamp to simulate an old-time theme based on Tarot cards.

Color Scheme
The process of the color scheme was decided through the same voting process that was preformed to determine the logo. Every member produced five color schemes that we felt would portray the creepy and horror aspect of our magazine without feeling too cliche.
Articles and Advertisments
Each member was tasked with finding three articles to fit the theme of the magazine. We were then to typeset the article and design what the pages would look like. Each member was also tasked with creating five advertisements that would go between the articles. We started by creating rough drawings of each article and advertisement both in black and white and in color. We then went through the process of pinning our sketches up to figure out the order that we would put each page of the magazine.

Typesetting and Page Design
After Laying out the rough sketches we began the process of actually typesetting our articles and designing what the pages and spreads would look like for both articles and advertisements.

Final Product
After the team completed our articles advertisements and the cover, I was also tasked with creating the table of contents as well as the masthead. We then got all the pages printed and bound the magazine ourselves.
